Overview
Bureau of Dangerous Goods training courses are taught by recognized professionals who emphasize
safety and compliance with the regulations. Students participating in standard training courses, on-site corporate courses, or
customized courses will come away with practical working skills and up-to-the-minute information required to help make

IATA Accredited Training School
 IATA accredited dangerous goods training meets a minimum world-wide standard and satisfies the requirements of ICAO's
Technical Instructions on the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air, including local civil aviation authority
requirements for dangerous goods courses. As an IATA accredited training school, the Bureau of Dangerous Goods
delivers top notch technical and management training courses dealing with initial, recurrent, awareness, infectious
substance regulations and radioactive materials regulations.

A copy of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, North American Emergency Response Guide, Bureau Work Reference Guide, pens and highlighters
are included in the enrollment fee of this course. Lunch and beverages are also included. The 2008 49th edition of the IATA DGR is
required for this course. If the student brings their own copy of the most recent IATA DGR, $75.00 USD may be deducted from the enrollment
fee. Class each day begins promptly at 9:00AM EST and ends approximately at 5:00PM EST.
Students must make their own hotel and transportation arrangements, if necessary.

Students must possess a current, unexpired IATA training certificate where the start date of the recurrent course must be on or before the expiration
date of the certificate to qualify for recurrent training courses.

shipment by either ground or air.

General Course Description
Each course covers the regulatory skills required to document, classify, prepare, offer and accept shipments of
dangerous goods intended for air transportation. Courses also cover the related ground transportation requirements of
U.S. Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (49CFR) as required in §172.700 Subpart H -- Training.
Bureau instructors are full-time team members who are known as practicing specialists in the field of dangerous goods
transportation. Each instructor has a minimum of five (5) years working knowledge with experience in hazardous
materials, safety or cargo operations, including dangerous goods handling and acceptance. Their constant exposure to
current regulations and ever-changing amendments and revisions instill them with a "product knowledge" that can be
delivered in a concise, easy to understand manner to all students.
Introductory (or initial) courses dealing with dangerous goods transported by air are three (3) days in length, consisting
of lectures, hand-outs, practice exercises, instructive question and answer sessions, and a final examination on all class
hazards and material covered within the course.
All courses dealing with dangerous goods transported by air cover the regulatory compliance skills needed to document, classify,
prepare, offer and accept shipments of dangerous goods according to the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and relevant ground
transportation requirements of the 49 CFR.
Each student participating in the course is provided comprehensive classroom materiarls that will become a valuable part
of their office library.
General course topics include:
- Development of United Nations Recommendations & the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
- Relationship between ICAO, IATA, 49 CFR, Transport Canada Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations and the Standards of Mexico
- Shipper and operator responsibilities
- Classification and identification of the nine (9) class hazards with their main criteria, the alphabetic list and
precedence of hazards table, special provisions, mixtures, solutions and N.O.S. entries
- Limitations: Excepted and Limited Quantity dangerous goods, and Operator and State variations with special emphasis
on U.S., Canadian and Mexican requirements
- U.N. Specification Packaging
- Preparation of Shipper's Declaration form and air waybills
- Labeling and marking
- Compatibility and segregation of packages
- Safety in handling and packaging dangerous goods
- Emergency Response Guidelines
- General awareness, Limited function-specific, Safety and Hazmat Security training

IMPORTANT FACTIATA regulations require all recurrent training to be done within 24
months, or 2 years, of previous training (1.5.0.3). If you require training after 24 months, you may no longer be eligible for recurrent training.
If you received your training certificate before
Tuesday, May 09, 2006, then your certificate has expired and you may need to take an initial course to be
recertified. Please contact a Bureau training representative for more information.
