IATA 1-Day Recurrent Dangerous Goods Training Introduction

This one-day IATA refresher course provides students with the basic skills needed to prepare, offer and accept shipments of dangerous goods by air transport. The course gives students the knowledge and background necessary to satisfy regulatory requirements for recurrent training in dangerous goods transportation based on
IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
As a prerequisite, students must possess a valid, unexpired certificate from previous IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations training taken within the last 24 months.
Course Syllabus
Upon successful completion of this course, the student shall have satisfied training requirements for recurrent dangerous goods training in accordance with
IATA DGR 1.5 and shipping dangerous goods by air transport:
- Regulatory applicability - IATA and ICAO regulatory background and jurisdiction, key definitions, structure of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulation and operator and state variations
- Classification and Identification - Class hazard definitions and compatibility, use of IATA List of Dangerous Goods / Special Provisions, and selection of the most correct proper shipping name
- Packaging - Use of IATA packing instructions, packaging limitations, specification packaging requirements and selecting the correct package
- Marking and Labeling - Marking specification and proper application, identification and use of correct hazard and handling labels
- Documentation - Requirements for completing IATA's "Shipper declaration form", submitting shipper's declaration to airlines, and retention requirements
Course Information
Students will attend a comprehensive one-day, instructor-led training seminar to become refreshed on the IATA DGR regulations, how its used and how it applies to the hazmat employee. Students will answer review questions after each section of training, followed by a final examination summarizing all of the topics discussed throughout the training course.
Students will utilize a special Bureau of Dangerous Goods training workbook throughout the course, referencing and summarizing the IATA DGR regulations. Students will also use the IATA DGR in simulated examples to further their understanding of the structure and sections of the IATA DGR regarding dangerous goods transportation by aircraft.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a training certificate that satisfies
IATA DGR 1.5.5 for training record retention purposes.
